Has the Country Club had discussions with developers and in what detail?
Yes. According to the President’s letter to residents and email to members, they have. We are unsure of the detail but a Seniors Living provider seems interested in a development for a large number of residents on the Vincentia Golf Club site. The impact on Vincentia Golf Course and Club is unclear but the President stated at the meeting in December that both the club and the course would remain. He also stated that consultation and a member vote would be required.
I don’t think the Country Club have looked after the Vincentia Clubhouse very well – we are treated as poor cousins.
The CC agreed to do a lot for Vincentia in the merger including “maintain and revtialize the Vincentia Clubhouse and Course”, and “invest in the food and catering". Read 5.3 in the MOU document to read the full commitments made by the Country Club. The President has quoted some unsubstantiated figures on money spent however FoVGC believes this is only maintenance. It is clear, even to a casual observer, that many of their other commitments have not been met.
When we amalgamated with Sanctuary Point was there a reason for specifically declaring some parts of Vincentia Golf Club ‘core' and other parts to be 'non-core' in the Memorandum of Understanding? I’m a member of Vincentia and I’m worried about this.
This decision was made to protect the interests of, and provide certainty to, the Vincentia Golf Club members who voted to accept the Amalgamation proposal by the Board of SGBCC, the 'enduring members' (a legal requirement under the law in NSW) of the VGC.
I’ve heard lots of talk that we are going to decide to make Vincentia Golf Club property ‘non core'? I’ve googled it and I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be good for them.
By now that the members of the Country Club as a whole will have worked out that there is possibly an intention (but unfortunately we do not know) to declare ALL the Vincentia Golf Club property to be non- core. If that happens then the members are giving the Board (current and future) full permission to : 1. sell off ALL of the land at Vincentia without consulting with any members again at any time now or into the future. 2. sell Vincentia Golf Club for whatever price that only the board decides and however they want to without consulting the members. 3. sell Vincentia Golf Club without any published Strategic Plan or Business Plan or reasons for selling and no stated plan as to what will be done with the money. 4. There is a seriously big bucket load of money being talked about and no plan evident for what it will be used for apart from paying off debt. 5. This lack of information is unfortunately having a profound effect on the health and well being of community members surrounding the golf course and the broader community who are deeply concerned about the possibility of a major development occurring and the community has absolutely no idea of what it entails, where it is, its effect on them, and the potential impacts to all residents.
